Our story

The Murphy family, local developers of whom several are residents of River Landing themselves, envisioned this community to be an active and vibrant part of eastern North Carolina. In the beginning, they promised to incorporate an 18-hole golf course, a fitness center, and a clubhouse.

Since the community’s start in 1996, the developers have delivered two Top 50 18-hole championship golf courses, a clubhouse, a fitness center with several fitness class options, an indoor pool, an outdoor pool, walking and biking trails, and several diverse event venues. In all that they do, the Murphy family strives to exceed expectations and deliver more than they promise. For more than 20 years, River Landing has been a living testament to that mission. Once you drive through the gates, you will understand why River Landing is more than just another community. It’s a family.

River Landing is a smooth, 35-minute drive from the laid-back beach town of Wilmington and just over an hour from the state’s capital, Raleigh. Wilmington features pristine beaches on blue waters, historic sites, a thriving arts scene, and boutique dining experiences. It is also home to the nationally famous Azalea Festival each April. In Raleigh, you’ll find a growing metropolis with more than 20 craft breweries; Red Hat Amphitheater, which hosts a diverse array of big-name recording artists; and the popular Wide Open Bluegrass Festival. Also only an hour away from River Landing are the Carolina Premium Outlets, which are known as having the best shopping in the region.
