Heaven on the Cape Fear River

River Landing was first developed with the idea that prospective employees of then Murphy Family Farms would have a great place to call home. Since then, River Landing has transformed into over 1600 acres of home sites, lakes, walking paths, and golf courses. When you drive into the gates of River Landing, you realize that you’re in a place unlike anywhere else. And by moving to River Landing, you join more than a community – you join a family.

Wallace,
North Carolina

Wallace is a small, historic town with a charm all its own. It has a pace that beckons you to slow down and savor life. Imagine exploring the historic train depot downtown or visiting local farm stands for fresh produce. You may also stumble across a quaint antique store just off the beaten path and discover that the proprietor is a master craftsman for one-of-a-kind furniture, and his wife's lemonade is the best you’ve ever tasted. Being here just feels like being home.

Wallace is located in Duplin County, which is home to the world’s largest frying pan, Duplin Winery, The County Squire Winery, historic plantations, and museums. There is always a fun small town festival taking place in Duplin County or one of our neighboring counties, including:

  • The Carolina Strawberry Festival in Downtown Wallace
  • The North Carolina Blueberry Festival in Downtown Burgaw
  • Candlelight Christmas at Liberty Hall
  • Grape stomping at Duplin Winery
  • The NC Muscadine Harvest Festival at Duplin County Events Center

Within minutes of the River Landing gates, there are multiple medical experts, family physicians, and world-renowned hospitals to ensure that you are in close proximity to the care you need. There are also a number of airports close by to shorten your travel plans for vacations and family trips.

River Landing is a smooth, 35-minute drive from the laid-back beach town of Wilmington and just over an hour from the state’s capital, Raleigh. Wilmington features pristine beaches on blue waters, historic sites, a thriving arts scene, and boutique dining experiences. It is also home to the nationally famous Azalea Festival each April. In Raleigh, you’ll find a growing metropolis with more than 20 craft breweries; Red Hat Amphitheater, which hosts a diverse array of big-name recording artists; and the popular Wide Open Bluegrass Festival. Also only an hour away from River Landing are the Carolina Premium Outlets, which are known as having the best shopping in the region.

Our
History

The Murphy family, local developers of whom several are residents of River Landing themselves, envisioned this community to be an active and vibrant part of eastern North Carolina. In the beginning, they promised to incorporate an 18-hole golf course, a fitness center, and a clubhouse.

Since the community’s start in 1996, the developers have delivered two Top 50 18-hole championship golf courses, a clubhouse, a fitness center with several fitness class options, an indoor pool, an outdoor pool, walking and biking trails, and several diverse event venues. In all that they do, the Murphy family strives to exceed expectations and deliver more than they promise. For more than 20 years, River Landing has been a living testament to that mission. Once you drive through the gates, you will understand why River Landing is more than just another community. It's a family.
