About River Landing
Who We Are
Tucked away near the coast of Eastern North Carolina is a picture-perfect community, complete with world-class club amenities while still maintaining the charm and ease of a small hometown. The Murphy family, local developers of whom several are residents in River Landing themselves, envisioned this community to be an active and vibrant part of Eastern North Carolina.
In the beginning, they promised to incorporate an 18-hole golf course, fitness center and a clubhouse. Since the community’s start in 1996, the developers have delivered two Top 40 18-hole golf courses, a grand clubhouse, a fitness center with an outdoor pool, walking and biking trails, and venues for a variety of social groups.
In all that they do, the Murphy family strives to exceed expectations and deliver more than they promise. For the past 26 years, River Landing has been a living testament to that philosophy. Once you drive through the gates you will understand why River Landing is not just another community – it’s a family.
More than just a residential area, River Landing offers eight unique venues with several settings for private events. From our Clubhouse to our River Lodge and beyond, River Landing is the premier location for weddings, celebrations, meetings, and more.

Beaches
If you’re looking for a beach getaway, the historic downtown Wilmington is only 30 minutes from us.
There, you can check out the WWII Battleship memorial. The Battleship is open every day! You can buy tickets online, and walk-up tickets are available as well. Tickets range from $6 to $14. The Battleship is right next door to Wrightsville Beach, so you can spend the rest of your day at the beach.

If you aren’t interested in Wilmington’s history and prefer a different beach, don’t worry. Also nearby is the Carolina Beach Boardwalk. Here, you can enjoy seaside restaurants and bars, take a stroll by all of the shops, and pick up some sweet treats along the way. And of course, the beautiful Carolina Beach is right there as well.
Maybe you’re more interested in the sea life around the beaches. We have two aquariums nearby that the whole family is sure to love. The closest aquarium is the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher in Kure Beach, and the North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores is closer to the Morehead City area. Another option is the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue & Rehabilitation Center in Surf City. You are able to see the rehabilitating turtles and tour the facility to learn all about this non-profit.
The Triangle
Whether the beach doesn’t interest you or you simply want to explore city life, the Triangle area is packed full of unique experiences.
One of the most notable attractions is the PNC Arena. Of course, this is home to the Carolina Hurricanes. Visiting a Canes game is an absolute must during the winter season. Not only that, but when the Canes aren’t playing, the PNC Arena frequently has other events going on – performances, concerts, and more.

Another popular concert venue is the Durham Performing Arts Center. In addition to an array of concerts, this center is known to host broadway, comedy, and family shows. Make sure you check their schedule frequently because there is something for everyone at this location.
If you would prefer an outdoor activity that feels like you aren’t even in the city at all, the North Carolina Botanical Garden is right in Chapel Hill! This conservation garden works to advance a sustainable relationship between nature and people and has been around since the early 1990s. The Botanical Garden hosts an array of adult programs and youth & family programs, both in-person and virtually.
