Tee It Up Tuesday | Give it an Uppercut and Knock it Out!

We all want to hit it further off the tee, and certainly there's more than one way to accomplish that, but maybe the following will help. Let's try catching the ball on the upswing with the driver and maximizing our carry in the air and distance. And perhaps as a bonus, with less backspin, it will roll a little longer when it hits the ground.

1. Tilt behind the ball and address it in line with your left foot. Widen your stance a bit more than shoulder width apart and keep your sternum behind the ball.

2. Keep it smooth to the top, rhythm is key and the backswing needs to be nice and smooth, utilizing your core to help bring the club back. Do your best to keep the arms relaxed.

3. Don't lunge forward at the start of the downswing, resist that urge to shift all of your weight towards the target, the upper body needs to stay behind the ball to hit up on it. It feels as if some of your weight is still being supported by your back foot, although not to be confused with completely getting stuck on your back foot.

4. Thrust the lower body upward as you swing into the ball, torso tilting further away from the target and finishing a little taller than at address. The thrust causes the arms to extend so you can hit up on the ball with real power.

Give it a try, knock that ball out!!
