Staff Spotlight: Hunter Johnson

April 13, 2018

Hunter Johnson has a long history with River Landing.  Even before he started working here as a Pool Attendant in 2016, Hunter’s mom Kim Johnson has worked in Human Resources at our parent company Murphy Family Ventures for 25 years.

Hunter attended Union High School and graduated from UNCW with a bachelor’s in Psychology in 2017. He now serves as the Human Resources and Intern Manager in our Hospitality Division. Speaking on his time with our amazing interns Hunter admitted,  “I find myself in awe of how hardworking our interns are and I am consistently impressed with their ability to focus on the job when they are as far away from home as they have ever been. Working with them and helping them is a pleasure.”

Hunter is known in the office as the person who can always make a good joke out of any occasion and constantly keeps those of us in the Welcome Center laughing. If you have time, ask him about his issues with the Mighty Ducks movie trilogy…he’s given it a lot of thought. Beyond his humor, Hunter is a hard worker who will step into any position and be a team player.

1.  What is your biggest achievement?
Outside of schooling my biggest achievement is getting 100% on all 3 Donkey Kong Country games.

2.  How do you feel about Cam Newton?
I am a New York Jets fan so seeing other teams with decent quarterbacks hurts my feelings.

3. What’s something not many people know about you?
I don’t worry about most things in my day-to-day life, but I sob uncontrollably watching Lifetime Original Movies.

4. What bothers you the most?
The logo for Sesame Street is a street sign, only it has the numbers “123” above it. “123” is obviously the address of the Robinson family, but their address would only be found above their door…it wouldn’t be on the street sign. Isn’t that disrespectful to everyone else who lives on Sesame Street that aren’t the Robinsons?

5. Where do see yourself in 5 years?
Owning a fish tank with my future pets Finn Diesel and Shark Walberg.
