Staff Spotlight: Chris Pair

Chris Pair is our Sous Chef at The Mad Boar.  He has been with us for the past three years when he started as a fry cook.  "I tried to absorb as much information as possible as quickly as possible," said Pair.  From there he became the AM Kitchen Supervisor and then was promoted to his current position.

As part of his job, Chris is responsible for ordering, logistics, and managing the kitchen. "I love teaching and guiding my teammates," replied Pair when asked to describe his favorite part of the job.

Chris's history with cooking goes back to when he was four years old, however, he was in the medical field prior to coming to work at The Village at River Landing.

Reflecting on his time with the company Pair added, "Working here has made me a better leader.  I have learned a lot about not just how to cook, but also how to run a restaurant."

What is something you enjoy doing outside of work?

I love blacksmithing, woodworking and crochet.

What is something not many people know about you?

I’m the eldest of 6 kids.

What is your favorite dish at The Mad Boar?

The Boar Burger

What is the best piece of advice you have ever been given?

My grandfather used to say “When someone says ‘I don’t know how’, what they really mean is that they are too lazy to learn.”

What would you like to see at the Mad Boar in the future?

I would like to see us become one of the top 10 Restaurants in North Carolina.  Maybe competing in some BBQ competitions.
